The Desert Pulse: Eat, Stay, Play with DUB’s BBQ

 

Welcome to The Desert Pulse: Eat, Stay, Play. It is our intent to introduce residents and visitors to the most delectable places to eat, hospitable places to stay, along with the fun and exciting things to do across our regions desert floor. Today we take you to DUB’S BBQ. DUB’S is nestled in the Sunset Plaza on the boarder of Santa Clara and St. George, UT.

When we were younger, Kory used to help his ex-brother-in-law at the meat-packing house. I would at times come and help grind hamburger, clean the sterile tables, or just hang out. If you have ever been in a packing house, the smell of fresh meat is an aroma you will never forget–to a person who loves BBQ, the smell is like heaven!

DUB'S BBQEntering DUB’s there is a slight packing house smell with the fresh meat they use. The shop is gray with tin accents. It was exactly what I would expect from a true BBQ eatery.

The staff at DUB’s was very knowledgeable about the menu choices and the process of BBQ cooking. They were impressive and insightful providing answers to all of my questions. 

We were able to get the “special treatment” with a heaping variety platter. This is something not traditionally on the menu; but, because we were writing and filming a review, I wanted to give, you, the reader, a true assessment of the menu.  

DUB'S BBQ2In our sampler was ribs (both pork and beef), cat fish, brisket, sweet potato tots, baked beans, cold slaw, potato salad, and 3 choices of BBQ mixed to perfection!

I was staring at a plate full of juicy meat. Total finger food!

The ribs were not your traditional baby back ribs. DUB’s provides ribs stacked full of meat that just peel off the bone. They were so big that I could only eat three.

The catfish was the best fish I have had in a long time. DUB’s catfish, breaded with a corn meal crust was excellent. To be honest, I have been craving it ever since!

I was excited to know that DUB’s also caters. He takes his big portable smoker to events if you request him to. What a great idea! So different from what, we here, are traditionally thinking when ordering catering! Get a little taste of living on the ranch at your event!

As a bonus, DUB’S BBQ is a big supporter of the local live music scene. Every Friday night, you will find great food accompanied by outstanding music talent with a local live musician at DUB’s BBQ.
