Vinyl Fusion is a fun band comprised of seasoned, professional musicians playing the hits of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. They take pride in playing “the good stuff” – the music so many of us grew up with – the tunes that bring back magical memories as soon as it starts playing.
Tammy Houchen formed the band in late 2015 after leaving another local country band and deciding she wanted to focus more on the music she grew up with – rock n roll. Tammy has been entertaining audiences throughout the western states for over 13 years. Her range of song selections is as wide as her vocal range and always includes her own twist to make the song her own. Although singing in bands is a fairly new endeavor to her, her natural ability to entertain shines through in each performance she gives complimented by her strong vocal talent.
Mark Allred, who plays Lead Guitar and Vocals, has been with Vinyl Fusion since Day 1. Mark is considered a veteran in the music world as well as for the United States Army. He began performing at the age of 12 and has played in 30 states and Canada opening for headliner bands such as New Riders of the Purple Sage, Hank Williams Jr., Jerry Garcia and The Statler Brothers.
Charlie Mikkelson is Vinyl Fusion’s Drummer. Hailing from the L.A. area, he has been playing since the age of 18. Many may know him from him playing with such local bands as Harry O & Friends, Dixie Troubadours, Classic Country, Cactus Surfers and Dakota Knights.
Zandra Zupan is the one who brings that “extra something special” to the band. With her talented fingers on the keyboards, sweet slides on the violin and soft blended harmonies, Vinyl Fusion is able to separate itself from many ordinary cover bands. Zandra comes from Las Vegas where she performed with numerous bands in many different venues.
After the recent unexpected passing of their bass guitarist (Drew Millerberg), Tom Holt, current Bassist for the band, is now it’s newest member. Also from Las Vegas, he is a former member of Band of Outsiders and has shared the Vegas stages as a back-up vocalist for headliner performers.
Vinyl Fusion is one of those bands that could play anywhere, for any type of audience by combining classic song titles, high energy and danceable tunes. People walk away with a smile on their face and unforgettable songs stuck in their heads long after the show is over.
You hear about “band drama” all the time with musicians . . . people not getting along, disagreements about song choices and different personalities not meshing. But, Vinyl Fusion is different. They actually like being with each other! And, it is felt in their performance. There is genuine love flowing through their concerts and the comic bantering back and forth during shows is spontaneous and light. They have a common goal: Play the music they love and share it with their audiences so that everyone has a great time!
