Victoria Denning was born and raised in Layton, Utah. She studied art at Utah State University and Brigham Young University. She graduated in 2014 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in drawing and painting. Her work has been chosen to show in exhibitions at Brigham Young University and in libraries, cafes, restaurants, and galleries throughout Utah. She recently instructed a painting seminar for Maeser Prep Academy in northern Utah. Her work is displayed in the Arrowhead Gallery and the Red Cliffs Gallery where she was recently awarded Best of Show and First Place. She has been chosen to paint a fiberglass bison statue for Dixie State University which will be displayed in downtown Saint George. Denning is also writing and illustrating her first children’s book. When she is not painting and illustrating she enjoys time with her two-year-old son while preparing for another baby boy due in May. She and her family now reside in St. George, Utah.
Denning states, “My pursuit of painting the landscape and the figure has become a process to document the everyday moments that make up my life. I paint from the land I experience around me, from images and occurrences with family and friends, and from memories of childhood. In this way, I get to experience the feelings associated with them again, discover why they are important to me, and enjoy a process of seeing who I am a little more clearly.”
Maria Jeffs is a photographic artist who loves the landscapes, birds, and wildlife of Southern Utah. Born and raised in southern Utah, she has a particular fascination of the incredible colors of the desert southwest. She received her first camera when she was nineteen and photography became a driving force in her life. She discovered stock photography and its strict requirements shaped her photographic skills. Later, her life took another turn and she pulled away from stock photography and immersed herself in self-studies of her true passion: birds, wildlife, and landscape photography. Her work has developed into a collection of images showcasing the beauty of Southern Utah. Her work can be found in the Arrowhead Gallery in St. George, Utah and recently her work was exhibited in the DSU Sears Art Museum. She also displays at local art festivals and markets throughout the summer, including Tuacahn Saturday Market, Cedar City Frontier Folk Art Festival, Springdale Earth Day along with many others.
Arrowhead Gallery ETC’s goal is to provide an environment for emerging artists to showcase their diverse talents by creating, exhibiting, networking and selling their works, with the desire of enriching the cultural life of the community. The Arrowhead Gallery is open to the public Tue-Sat from 11 am to 6 pm.
